Shiomi Uchiwa continues to produce the Kyoto craft "Kyo Uchiwa". Kyo Uchiwa has a "sashi-ge" structure in which the fan surface and handle are made separately and then assembled later. This makes the fan surface very flat.
A variety of motifs such as people, landscapes, haiku, and waka poetry can be depicted on the overglaze, and it is characterized by the fact that it can be expressed using various techniques such as cat painting, printmaking, hand dyeing, and hand carving.
You can also freely choose the shape and design. It is possible to make not only the mainstream round and square shapes, but also unusual shapes. The staggered fan "Arashiyama" was made taking advantage of this feature. The material is natural, so when you raise it, it feels a very cool breeze, and the beauty of the design calms the mind. It provides an eco-friendly, LOHAS lifestyle that allows you to cool down without using electricity.
