Craft Makers of the Month
Asada Lacquerware Kogei
“A one-of-a-kind lacquer landscape, drawn with the soot of Japanese candles.”
Rooted in the fine wood-turning and lacquering tradition of Yamanaka, Asada Lacquerware Kogei explores new expressions in lacquerware.
Each piece in the Murakumo-nuri series is created with soot from Japanese candles, forming patterns that are never the same twice and deepening in luster with every use.
It is lacquerware that carries the pleasure of tradition—refined for everyday life.

About Us
Bringing Timeless Craft into a Meaningful Future
“Watashi no Meihincho” curates exceptional works from artisans across Japan —
pieces born of techniques and aesthetics refined over generations,
yet thoughtfully reimagined for modern living and values.
Each handcrafted object carries not only historical significance,
but also a quiet beauty and tangible quality you feel the moment you hold it.
Within every piece lies the story and spirit of its maker,
bringing a subtle touch of the extraordinary to everyday life.
By sharing these stories and reframing the meaning of craft for today,
we aim to create a new Japanese craft brand
that the world can admire and embrace for generations to come.
