Notices

Yatsuyanagi’s Tetsuboku (Ironwood) Chopsticks are crafted from natural Tagayasan wood—one of Japan’s three great hardwoods—renowned for its iron-like hardness and exceptional durability. These chopsticks are built to last and intended for long-term use.

The carefully carved shape fits comfortably in the fingers, and the finely tapered tips make it easy to grasp even small foods like beans. They are suitable not only for Japanese cuisine but also for a wide range of dishes including Western and Chinese meals. Their non-slip surface ensures ease of use, while their gentle touch on the fingers and smooth feel in the mouth convey the warmth of natural materials.

As a product made from natural wood, these chopsticks will develop a richer luster and become more familiar to the touch the more they are used, adding to their charm over time.

The handle is wrapped in wild cherry bark (Yamazakura) and adorned with a simple cherry blossom motif using raden (mother-of-pearl inlay). With a water-repellent finish, they can be washed and used just like regular chopsticks, making them both beautiful and practical.

Combining natural materials, artisan craftsmanship, and a focus on quality and durability, these Tetsuboku Chopsticks are a harmonious blend of traditional elegance and everyday functionality—bringing a refined touch to your dining table.

Yatsuyanagi

Akita

Since its founding in 1876, in the 9th year of the Meiji era, Yatsuyanagi has inherited the tradition of Kabazaiku. Kakunodate, Semboku City, Akita Prefecture, where our workshop is located, is a beautiful area rich in nature, and the birch work created here is made using the bark of wild cherry trees.
