The "Sometsuke Kiridate Mug – Arabesque" by Maruchoku Pottery is a refined piece that beautifully blends tradition with contemporary sensibilities. Each mug is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans.

Its straight-sided form, known as kiridate, fits comfortably in the hand, offering a sense of stability and ease of use. Made with a technique known as eggshell porcelain, the mug is exceptionally thin and provides a smooth, gentle feel at the rim.

The arabesque pattern, long cherished in Japanese daily life, symbolizes prosperity and longevity. It is applied using a distinctive method called copperplate sometsuke (underglaze blue transfer printing).

Perfectly sized for everyday use, it’s ideal not only for coffee and tea, but also as a soup cup or for warm milk. Each mug is unique, with slight variations that highlight the charm of handmade craftsmanship.

Microwave and dishwasher safe, it is highly practical as well. Its versatile design fits both Japanese and Western table settings, making it ideal for daily use or as a heartfelt gift.
