福岡県太宰府で伝統工芸士として、歌舞伎や能などの古典的なものから現代的な物まで、幅広い人形を手掛けられている西山陽一氏の作品。
世界各地の神話や物語で幸せの象徴として語られている「リンゴ」をモチーフにしています。
思わず食べたくなるようなリアルな造形の「幸せのリンゴ」は、身近な果物への感謝の気持ちを表現した「ありがた実」シリーズの一つ。
幸運を呼ぶ兆しとされる鳳凰が描かれ、さらに四葉のクローバーや虹、流れ星など、現代のラッキーモチーフも取り入れられています。これらのデザインには、希望や幸福への願いが込められています。
西山陽一氏は人々に驚きと感動を与えることを目指しており、彼の作品は伝統的な博多人形の技法を継承しつつ、新しい表現を追求しています。
「幸せのリンゴ」もその一例。
写実的なデザインと、細部にこだわった丁寧な彩色まで全て西山氏本人が行っています。
